Natural Ways Of Maintaining A Swimming Pool

It is important to maintain a swimming pool if you want it to last. There are some great natural pool treatment options that don’t involve harsh chemicals or additives but can help to keep your pool safe. In this blog post, we’ll explore different ways that you can use to maintain your swimming pool naturally.

1. Vinegar

Vinegar is a great way to keep your pool clean, and you can even use it as an alternative to chlorine. All you need is one gallon of vinegar for every 20 gallons of water in the pool.

To prevent algae from gathering in corners or other areas where there are lots of sticks or leaves, pour some vinegar near them occasionally. You should also dump some vinegar into the skimmer now and then during the summer months instead of actively shocking with chemicals each week.

2. Olive Oil

You can use olive oil to clean your pool deck and steps. It’s natural, and does a great job of repelling dirt, too!

How this works: Add olive oil to the surface and use an old rag or sponge to clean your surfaces. This will help repel dirt as well as break down stains that can’t be removed with regular scrubbing. The more you do this, the fewer times you’ll need to bleach your decking in order for it to stay looking fresh.

If there are stubborn spots on your pool stairs, then try using some salt along with the olive oil before applying pressure when cleaning. This should make them easier to remove without any effort at all.

Note: This is not recommended for vinyl or aluminum pools because they may react negatively with salt.

3. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is excellent for keeping your pool’s water sparkling and clear. It removes the buildup of dirt, leaves, minerals from the ground, suntan lotion residue, and oils caused by swimmers.

All you have to do is pour it on a brush or cloth that’s been soaked in warm water then gently scrub over tiles, walls, and steps until they’re clean.

4. Simple Green

This is a fast and effective way to bring the algae back into balance. It is a liquid that can be added directly to your pool or you can mix it with water in a bucket before adding it to the pool.

The best thing about this product is its natural ingredients which will not harm any of your expensive equipment or paint job on your deck if it spills onto them accidentally.

5. Baking Soda

The baking soda pool cleaner is one of the most affordable and natural ways to clean your swimming pools. It’s a product that you can buy on Amazon or in any supermarket for less than $20, so it won’t cost much.

The ingredients are simple: just two cups of baking soda mixed with some water until you get a paste-like consistency. Apply this mixture onto all the tiles inside and outside of your pool and scrub using a long brush before rinsing off everything.

This will remove algae from surfaces such as walls, steps, ledges, and floor tiles, while also cleansing them completely.

The Bottom Line

If you’re on a budget and have the time to maintain your swimming pool, then natural methods are a great option. However, if you don’t want to spend any money and/or can’t spare the time to maintain it yourself, then traditional ways would be better for you.
